Kane denies refusing to train and will return to Tottenham ´as planned´ on Saturday

Harry Kane insisted he has never refused to train and will be back at Tottenham as planned on Saturday amid uncertainty surrounding his future.

Kane – a target for Manchester City – made headlines on Monday when he did not report for training with Spurs, who refused to comment publicly on the matter.

The England captain was given an extended break after leading the Three Lions to the final of Euro 2020 last month.

Kane has been the subject of intense speculation since suggesting in May that he could leave Spurs during this transfer window.

City are said to have long held an interest in the 28-year-old and reportedly lodged a bid of roughly £100million earlier in the window. On Friday, Pep Guardiola confirmed he wishes to sign Kane, but insisted the …

Neuer laughed at retirement rumours

Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer laughed at rumours he was going to announce his retirement to the media on Wednesday.

Neuer sustained a calf injury against Fortuna Dusseldorf on Sunday, ruling him out for two weeks, and when it was revealed he was set to hold a news conference speculation over his future mounted.

The 33-year-old missed the majority of the 2017-18 season due to a fractured foot and spent time out due to a thumb issue before sustaining a calf problem in March.

Head coach Niko Kovac confirmed Neuer suffered a recurrence of the latter injury at the weekend, but the keeper was surprised by suggestions he was set to hang up his boots.

We were laughing about that to be honest, said Neuer. We agreed on this press conference a week ago and…

Well-traveled Ibrahimovic happy at AC Milan

AC Milan talisman Zlatan Ibrahimovic has insisted that his future is with the Serie A giants, and that he is focused on finishing the season on a high note with Milan.

At the moment, Milan are just one point behind table toppers Juventus, who are unbeaten through 32 league games (18-14-0), in the Serie A table.

As I have said many times I m fine here, I have a contract, I have no other thoughts and I am determined to finish this season well with Milan, Ibrahimovic told Milan Channel.

Milan have given me a smile and the desire to play, my future is here. I have no reason to say anything else: I am playing well because I am fine here, on and off the field.

I will be back in training after Euro 2012 and my vacation.

Since the 2003-04 s…

Bayer Leverkusen 1 Borussia Dortmund 1: Yarmolenko strike rescues visitors

Andriy Yarmolenko rescued a point for Borussia Dortmund with the equaliser in a 1-1 draw against 10-man Bayer Leverkusen that might earn head coach Peter Bosz a stay of execution.

Dortmund went into the game with Bosz under intense pressure after a run of six games without a win, but his side fell behind after half an hour.

Kevin Volland s opening goal came after a defensive howler from Neven Subotic, but Leverkusen then had Brazilian full-back Wendell sent off just before half-time.

Against 10 men, the visitors dominated the second half possession but failed to break down Heiko Herrlich s well-drilled outfit until Andre Schurrle teed up Yarmolenko for his third league goal of the season.

Despite salvaging a point, the laboured nature of Dortmund s perfor…

Rumour Has It: Man Utd and Man City chasing Pochettino

Mauricio Pochettino could find himself back in management sooner rather than later.

Pochettino was sacked by Tottenham in November, having led Spurs to the 2018-19 Champions League final.

Now, Manchester United and Manchester City are reportedly considering moves for Pochettino.

TOP STORY – POCH A MAN IN DEMAND IN MANCHESTER

Manchester United and neighbours Manchester City are both eyeing Mauricio Pochettino, according to the Mirror.

Bolt to have Dortmund trial in bid to earn Manchester United move

Sprint star Usain Bolt will undergo a trial with Borussia Dortmund in a bid to earn a professional contract at Manchester United.

The Jamaican, an all-time athletics legend after winning eight Olympic golds, retired after damaging his hamstring in his last ever race at the World Championships in London last year.

After recovering from that injury, the 31-year-old has reiterated his desire to switch sports, claiming he has held talks with the club s legendary former manager Alex Ferguson over a possible United deal, while his long mooted Dortmund trial is still on the cards.

The injury is now fine and I m back fully fit, Bolt, the 100 metres world-record holder, told the Express.

In March we re going to do trials with Dortmund and that will determine wha…

Southgate urges England to ´start again´ ahead of ´hugely challenging´ qualifiers

Gareth Southgate warned England must start again ahead of two  hugely challenging World Cup qualifiers away to Hungary and Poland in the next week.

Southgate says the Three Lions have grown in confidence as a result of a run to the final of Euro 2020.

England have turned their attention to qualifying for the World Cup in Doha next year following the heartbreak of losing to Italy in the final of the European Championship at Wembley.

England face Andorra at Wembley on Sunday before a trip to take on Poland at the Stadion Narodowy next Wednesday.

I´m sorry to see him like this – Mancini says Balotelli should be playing for Italy

Roberto Mancini has expressed his sadness at seeing Mario Balotelli go from being Italian football s golden boy to the odd man out.

Italy boss Mancini gave Balotelli his Serie A debut for Inter when the striker was just 17 years old, in December 2007, and a first Azzurri cap came before his 20th birthday.

Balotelli followed Mancini to Manchester City, where he showed flashes of brilliance but his stay was tainted by off-field controversies and claims about his conduct.

After a string of subsequent moves, which has seen Balotelli also play for Milan, Liverpool, Nice, Marseille and Brescia, he is without a club at the age of 30.

Speaking at a sports industry event on Thursday, Mancini said of Balotelli: I am very sorry to see him in this condition. At the a…

´It´s a joke´ – Ten Hag slams reports of Man Utd fire sale

Erik ten Hag has angrily denied reports claiming almost every player in Manchester United s squad will be up for sale in the upcoming transfer window, describing them as a joke .

United are officially out of the running for Champions League qualification and could yet end Ten Hag s second season at the helm out of Europe entirely, with Newcastle United and Chelsea among the teams looking to hunt down the sixth-placed Red Devils.

Big changes are expected in United s first transfer window under the stewardship of INEOS founder Jim Ratcliffe, who assumed full control of football operations when his purchase of a minority stake in the club was ratified in February.

Earlier this week, reports emerged suggesting United were entertaining offers for all but three of the…

Neville: Chelsea sacking Pochettino ´would be madness´

Gary Neville says it would be madness for Chelsea to sack head coach Mauricio Pochettino as he is ideally suited to managing the club.

Pochettino admitted after Chelsea s 2-0 win over his former side Tottenham on Thursday that he is unsure of his future at Stamford Bridge.

The Argentinian has been under intense pressure at times this season, most recently on the back of the 5-0 loss to Arsenal last week.

Chelsea have since responded with a battling 2-2 draw at Aston Villa and the impressive win over Spurs, but doubts remain over Pochettino s future.

However, Neville insists it would be wrong of Chelsea to part company with the former Paris Saint-Germain boss at the end of the season.

There was talk of Pochettino being under pressure a month or so…
